SLM Solutions: Order intake at the turn of the year provides tailwind for fiscal year 2015
Luebeck, Germany, January 28, 2015 – SLM Solutions Group AG, a leading provider of metal-based additive manufacturing technology (often referred to as "3D printing") achieved a pleasing order intake of 62 machines in the 2014 financial year. This figure exceeded the corresponding number for the previous year by 138 percent (December 31, 2013: 26 machines).
Dr. Markus Rechlin, CEO of SLM Solutions, puts the development in context: “Our order book has shown outstanding growth in the last few months. As expected, the fourth quarter made the largest contribution to the order intake over the whole year: a lot of orders came in at the most important trade fair, EuroMold, in November as well as in the final weeks of December. We are starting 2015 with order books bursting at the seams and full of drive.”
In the 2014 financial year, SLM Solutions' customers increasingly changed to ordering several machines at one time: for example, the experts for additive manufacture, FIT Fruth Innovative Technologien GmbH from Lupburg (Upper Palatinate, Germany) ordered five units of the flagship product SLM 500HL in the course of EuroMold – the largest single order in the company's history. There were also many repeat purchases from existing customers. Several orders were also received from the strategically important markets of North America and Asia where SLM Solutions succeeded in significantly expanding its presence last year by extending its sales offices.
CFO Uwe Bögershausen, views the new financial year with optimism: “Our growth has accelerated further and we are therefore starting the new year with a significant tailwind. By comparison with the previous year, we can already see a marked increase in the order book – one indicator of our growth in the financial year 2015.”
In the financial 2014, a total of 8 machines of type SLM 125HL, 43 machines of type SLM 280HL and 11 of the largest machine SLM 500HL were ordered.
