• Completion expected at the beginning of 2018, with move-in planned for Q1 2018
• Production capacity of 500 machines per year in one-shift operation
• Potential for significant optimisation of production processes
• Possible future extension buildings directly at new site
Lübeck, 14 June 2017 – The construction of the new headquarters of SLM Solutions Group AG ("SLM Solutions"), a leading provider of metal-based additive manufacturing technology, is progressing to plan during the first months of 2017. Once the roof coverings at the new site in Lübeck-Genin are finished during the next weeks, construction of the interior will start. The new Group headquarters is expected to be finished at the beginning of 2018, with the company planning to move into the building during the first quarter of 2018.
The new location will provide space for around 500 employees. On a one-shift operation basis, SLM Solutions plans production capacity of around 500 machines per year at the new premises. The building that is currently being constructed will occupy around 17,000 m² of the total land area of 70,000 m². This will make it possible to construct extension buildings directly at the new site in the future.
Uwe Bögershausen, CFO of SLM Solutions Group AG, explains: "We made sure when planning our new headquarters that the ground plans exactly meet the needs of our production processes. Our aim was to keep connecting routes as short as possible, and already further improve the possibilities for coordination between departments through the new premises' design. We believe we can significantly further optimise our manufacturing process in this way and raise our productivity. We will also have more space for our research and development activities at the new site than is currently possible. With our new Group headquarters we will be very well positioned for further growth."
